Gerade in der Diagnostik der Plantarfasziitis sollte der Ultraschall zeitig in Betracht gezogen werden. Verglichen mit anderen bildgebenden Verfahren ist die Sonografie kostengünstig, nichtinvasiv, sicher, einfach und teils ortsungebunden anwendbar. Der herausragende Vorteil der Ultraschalldiagnostik am Skelettapparat ist die Möglichkeit der dynamischen Untersuchung von Muskeln und Sehnen, was mit keinem anderen bildgebenden Verfahren möglich ist. Der routinemäßige Einsatz des Ultraschalls in der Diagnostik der Plantarfasziitis hilft, den klinischen Befund zu objektivieren und die nötigen therapeutischen Entscheidungen zu treffen. Die Ultraschall-gestützte Injektion des Ansatzbereichs der Plantarfaszie bedarf etwas Übung, liefert aber klinisch bessere Ergebnisse, reduziert das Auftreten von Komplikationen und erhöht sicherlich auch die Compliance und Zufriedenheit des behandelten Patienten.
